What do all of these artist have in common? All of these influential members of past societies are considered to have had bipolar depression. A movie titled, “Touched with Fire” and the book it was inspired by, look at bipolar depression through a new lens. The movie is a cinematic romance that follows two poets’ experiences with mental illness. They are depicted to experience all of the highs and lows that come along with their mental instability. The two main characters are inspired by knowing that so many famous artists had their creative capacities enriched by bipolar depression. Overall, the movie provides an intense view of mental illness through the lives of artists. As writers, we can all relate to the struggle to and from creativity.
