Erica here, and this week I’m letting the “experts” direct your next television binge-watching extravaganza. The latest recommendations from Rotten Tomatoes include HBO’s Westworld (Who wouldn’t want to watch a show about a futuristic robot-staffed theme park?) and Netflix’s Stranger Things (What Generation X-er wouldn’t want to watch 90s sweetheart Wynona Ryder make her big comeback in what has been described as E.T. meets X Files meets Goonies?). Both of these shows were recommended to me by a friend and fellow-viewer I know and trust and have currently taken up residence in my Netflix queue while I make my way through Shameless and Fear the Walking Dead.
The only recommendation in the list about which I’m uber-skeptical is This Is Us, NBC’s latest attempt at emotional blackmail and liberal propaganda. I really loathe shows that aren’t even trying to hide their agenda. Just listen to Rotten Tomatoes’ “Why You Should Watch It” blurb: “This Is Us deals with everyday issues, including obesity, race, self-esteem, love, and loss. You will cry, you will laugh, and then you will cry some more. No tagline on television has ever been truer: ‘This is real. This is love. This is life.'” Retch.
Anyhow, if you want to see all ten TV recommendations, here is the link:
